This park is one of our urban open spaces. Formerly known as Pineapple Park, it was dedicated in 2017 and renamed in honor of “Mr. Downtown,” Paul Thorpe, Jr. In recognition of his lasting impact on the beauty and vitality of Sarasota, Paul Thorpe, Jr. Park received the 2018 Civic Beautification Award for Outstanding Landscaping from the Sarasota Garden Club in February 2019.
